Neoflam is proud to introduce cast aluminum cookware featuring Ecolon™ non-stick coating. Ecolon is a ceramic based coating which is mostly made of silicon dioxide (also known as silica or SiO2), a material most commonly found in nature such as stone and sand. Unlike traditional cookware with PTFE-based non-stick coating, Ecolon is not harmful to the environment and the human body.

Benefits of Ecolon Coating

Most non-stick cookware in today's market uses PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) for its non-stick properties. While PTFE made aluminum cookware popular as it provided a non-stick solution and prevented corrosion of aluminum, recent findings show that PFOA, a chemical used as a processing agent in the manufacture of PTFE-based cookware, could be a carcinogen and be harmful to the environment.

Using the most advanced ceramic technology, Ecolon produces durable and efficient non-stick coating material that is safe and environment friedly. Ecolon's coating line is completely dedicated to ceramic coating to prevent cross contamination from PTFE-based coating.

Environmental Factor

Ecolon is not harmful to the environment and the human body as it's main ingredients comes from dirt, sand and rocks. PFOA is not used during production and does not remain as a residue on the cookware. Additionally, CO2 emission is reduced in the manufacturing process compared to PTFE. Other harmful chemicals are not released even if the pan is heated to a high temperature.

Durability

Durability of Ecolon coating against scratches and high temperature allows the coating to last longer maintaining its non-stick property after repeated use. It also allows for easier cooking and cleaning with metal-based utensils. Most PTFE coating can only withstand up to 4H pencil testing. PTFE coating releases chemicals at 240°C. On the contrary, Ecolon can withstand 8H hardness testing and will not melt up to 450°C.

Efficiency

With Ecolon coated cookware, you can use less energy and achieve faster cooking times. Ecolon has better heat transfer due to the high heat conductivity of Ecolon coating material. Ecolon can reflect more Long Wave Infared Rays (90-93% compared to 80-85% for PTFE coating) allowing the heat to penetrate food up to 3 cm, cooking food evenly without just burning the outside. Also, Ecolon’s durable coating makes it efficient to clean even after repeated use.

Non-Stick

Ecolon coated cookware can cook an egg without using any oil! And clean up is a breeze too, both inside and outside! Ecolon's non-stick coating performance may appear to be slightly less than a PTFE-based non-stick coating. However, Ecolon's advantage comes from its durability, maintaining the same non-stick performance even after repeated use. PTFE-based non-stick coating loses its non-stick ability more quickly than Ecolon.

Design

Ecolon coating brings new design possibilities to cookware with its flexibility. Wide range of colors are available.

In summary, Ecolon is a completely PTFE and PFOA-free non-stick coating based on the most advanced ceramic technology.

Advantages of Neoflam Cookware

Aluminum is a lightweight metal with excellent thermal conductivity. Aluminum is typically available in sheet or cast. Unlike sheet aluminum which requires stamping into a cookware form in uniform thickness, cast aluminum can produce a thicker product with flexible shape that accommodates strategic design requirements.

Neoflam's cookware is designed to maximize the advantages of cast aluminum. For example, its bottom is thicker than other areas of the cookware to absorb heat as much as possible. The walls are tapered smoothly to distribute thermal energy in an efficient way.

Neoflam cookware has multiple layers of coating as described below. In addition to ceramic non-stick coating, Ecolon features an exclusive negative ion technology in all cookware. Ecolon's Anion (Negative Ion) additive allows the coating to emit more than 20 times the Anion than typical cookware. Anion has long been associated with improvements in mood and physical health. Research conducted in the last decade has begun to support the view that negative ions have a net positive effect on health such as stimulation in blood circulation and act as an antimicrobial agent.
